Ten individuals sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.

The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has still to be made public.

A circulating false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions in favour of give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his high school.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
